Keith Sawyer

Dr. Keith Sawyer is the Morgan Distinguished Professor at UNC-Chapel Hill and a global authority on the science of creativity and learning. He is best known for debunking the "lone genius" myth, showing that innovation is a social, cumulative process he calls "Group Genius".

Sawyer’s expertise bridges technology, business, and art: an MIT computer science graduate and former videogame designer for Atari, he spent six years as a management consultant before earning a PhD under flow pioneer Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. A jazz pianist for 30+ years, he coined the term "group flow" to describe the peak collective state teams reach through improvisation.

Host of The Science of Creativity podcast, he has published over 20 books, including the definitive Explaining Creativity, the business bestseller Group Genius, and his latest work, Learning to See.
